Annual awards of the Ministry of Transport

On October 7, the annual awards of the Ministry of Transport of Lithuania took place, during which persons who significantly contributed to the development and improvement of the Lithuanian transport sector were honored. This year, Minister of Transportation Marius Skuodis awarded five individuals for their outstanding contribution to the country's transportation system1.
Awardees:
Romas Austinskas is the president of the Lithuanian National Association of Road Carriers "Linava" and vice president of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists. It was evaluated for increasing the competitiveness of the transportation sector, strengthening the state's position in the fields of transport and logistics, and cooperation with foreign partners.
Sigitas Gailiūnas is the president of the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts Association and the president of the Panevėžys Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts. He was awarded for his active participation in the development of strategically important roads in the Panevėžys region and the development of international projects "Rail Baltica" and "Via Baltica".
Renius Pleškys – Deputy Minister of National Defense. He was recognized for his leadership in the planning and implementation of military mobility transport infrastructure projects, such as the roads of the Rūdninkai Military Range and the Jonava Bypass.
Darius Skusevičius is the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Canada and the first accredited Ambassador of Lithuania to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He was awarded for his active representation of the country's interests at ICAO.
Darius Jonušis is the organizer of the "1000 km car race" and the president of the Lithuanian Karting Federation. He was credited for promoting safe driving and organizing races that led to the installation of modern tracks and service bays.
In addition, the highest seafarer's award - the sea captain Ludviks Stulpins medal - was presented to the head of the Klaipėda State Seaport, Algis Latakas, for his contribution to the maritime transport sector.
Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis emphasized that these awards are an important way to evaluate and honor those who contribute to the improvement and development of the Lithuanian transport system with their work and dedication. "The list of these people is getting longer every year, and that makes me very happy," said the minister.
